Emergency Response to Hazardous Materials AWARENESS Level:
Participants will learn how to recognize a hazardous materials release and the risks involved. They will also learn how to identify the released material; how to use available resources, including the Emergency Response Guidebook; and how to notify the proper authorities in the event of a hazardous material emergency.
Emergency Response to Hazardous Materials TECHNICIAN Level:
OSHA requires Hazardous Materials Technicians to have a minimum of 24 hours of training in accordance with section (q) of the HAZWOPER regulation.
Hazardous Materials Technicians are trained to respond to hazardous materials emergencies in an offensive fashion. Their primary role is to stop or control a spill or release by approaching the point of the release using specialized personal protective equipment (PPE).
When they respond to chemical spills, Hazmat Technicians are typically members of Hazmat Teams, often referred to as Spill Response Teams or Emergency Response Teams.

Emergency Response to Hazardous Materials OPERATIONS Level:
Hazardous Materials Operations course provides those who are or will be operating as a member of a fire department, law enforcement agency, EMS agency, emergency management agency, or other first responder agency, the basic skills needed to evaluate and work defensively at an incident involving the release of hazardous materials. The objectives of the course are to teach participants basic hazards and risk-assessment techniques for Hazmat and CBRNE environments; how to select and use proper personal protective equipment provided to the first responder at the Operations level; how to perform basic control, containment and/or confinement operations within the capabilities of the resources and personal protective equipment available; provide an understanding of the types of CBRNE and WMD events that may be presented to the first responder; and provide an understanding of the relevant standard operating guidelines and termination procedures
Emergency Response to Hazardous Materials REFRESHER Course:
Our OSHA 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher online course was designed to refresh your existing 24 or 40 hour HAZWOPER certification. The training meets the Federal OSHA HAZWOPER requirements 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(8), 29 CFR 1910.120(p)(7)(i), or 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(8) for General Industry and 29 CFR 1926.65(e)(8), 29 CFR 1926.65(p)(7)(i), or 29 CFR 1926.65(q)(8) for Construction.
