Suggested Dress Out Procedures For Hazardous Materials Response
Level "A" Dress Out
Step 1. Remove jewelry, belts, and all items from pockets. ( Place in Tag Baggie)
Step 2. Inspect mask and apply antifog to inside and outside of lens. (Put in spectacle kit if needed.)
Step 3. Inspect breathing hose and connect to mask.
Step 4. Inspect SCBA.

Step 5. Inspect both inner suit and Level A suit. (Apply antifog to inside lens of Level A suit if needed.)
Step 6. Remove personal boots or shoes.
Step 7. Put on inner disposable bootie.
Step 8. Put on inner suit up to waist; secure booties to suit with duct tape.
Step 9. Put on Level A suit up to waist.
Step 10. Put on outer steel-toed, chemical-resistant boots, if boots are not already attached to suit. Pull gauntlet down over boots.
Step 11. Pull up and zip inner suit.
Step 12. Put on two pair of vinyl gloves. Secure sleeves over outer gloves with duct tape.
Step 13. Put on one pair of blue nitrile gloves. DO NOT TAPE.
Step 14. Pull up inner hood and put on SCBA unit. Open valve on bottle all the way.
Step 15. Pull back inner hood and put on mask. Perform positive- and negative-pressure fit check.
Step 16. Pull up inner hood over mask harness.
Step 17. Put on Silver Shield or 4-H gloves. Secure gloves to suit with duct tape.
Step 18. Put on hardhat and secure chinstrap.
Step 19 COMMAND BRIEFING Start Time ____:____ End Time ____:____
Step 20 Connect breathing hose to regulator. SCBA is now fully operational.
Step 21. Pull up and zip Level A suit.
Step 21. Perform final inspection.

Step 8. Put on outer boots. Secure boots over suit with duct tape
Step 9. Pull up and zip inner suit.
Step 10. Put on two pair of vinyl or nitrile gloves. Secure sleeves over gloves with duct tape.
Step 11. Put on one pair of vinyl or nitrile gloves. DO NOT TAPE.
Step 12. If required, put on 4-H gloves. Secure gloves to sleeves with duct tape
Step 13. Pull up and zip outer suit.
Step 14. Pull up both inner and outer hoods.
Step 15. Put on SCBA unit and open valve on bottle all the way.
Step 16. Pull back both inner and outer hoods.
